Joshua Blue was born and academically educated in North Carolina. He studied under artists and professors; Hans Kelly Somey, Jason Story and Melena Bergmann. His most recent works are focused on socio-political ideas like the refugee crisis, extreme wealth and income inequality, nationalism, commercialism and society’s ever growing addiction to light illusions on small screens. His imagery evokes notions of geography, topography, maps and flags. His work unfolds in various layers to develop narratives and themes. The ultimate goal of the artist is to portray the various layers of distraction that keep us from seeing things in their truest forms.
